OUR PURPOSE & PROGRAMS
The Lighthouse Baptist Church Christian Center is an ecumenical, not-for-profit corporation established in 1999 as a citizen effort to address the societal problems of:
*Hunger
*Homelessness
*Positive socialization of released offenders
*Drug & alcohol abuse
*Negative teen peer pressure
*Domestic violence
*Education opportunity & advancement
*Personal & Interpersonal communication skills
*Employment & Interview skills
*Racial reconciliation
*Spiritual growth & maturity
We will meet our objectives by:
*A short term housing program for men and women
*Bible study and spiritual counseling
*Substance abuse counseling
*Community service work programs coordinated through the Knox County, Illinois State's Attorney's office and other local agencies
*Social services information & crisis intervention clearing house
*Education assistance featuring GED tutoring
*Job skills counseling
*Volunteer recruitment to staff the programs described above
