If you want to take a drive to a beautiful village on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, near a river, a bay, and an ocean, contact me and I will be happy to arrange a mini study group for one or more in my big old house, Heiderville, originally built as a parish house in 1860. It sits on Snow Hill’s loveliest street, lined with historic houses. Jesus said, "Where two or three gather together, there I am also," and that's good enough for me.
Readers should bring Urantia Books (but I have extras if you forget) and a sense of humor. You are welcome to bring snacks, meals, beverages of any persuasion, and pets, if they don’t eat cats. Foreigners and new readers (or just curious truth seekers) are most welcome. I am slowly hearing from readers in this area. So, I may be able to arrange a group session.
About the Host:
Hi, I'm Heidi. I've been reading the Urantia Book since 1972, when I was 16. My sister and I read the book with virtually no interaction with other readers for at least 20 years before I suddenly got the urge to attend a study group. I then became a regular member of study groups for many years in Manhattan, Fort Lee, NJ, and I also attended a group in Atlanta (Lawrenceville), for a year or more, which was hosted by Ticky Harries who, as a child, attended the original Forum in Chicago, with Dr. William Sadler. There they read and reviewed original drafts before the book was published. I attended a study group in Santa Cruz, California, one time, and I have attended my good friend’s group in Alexandria and Front Royal, Virginia.
About the Group:
Time: The Merry Agondonters Study Group at Heiderville has no schedule currently. We will schedule according to the availability of participants—right now it would be in the evening or on a weekend. Please call to set up a time. You can also contact me through LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/heiko/
Approach: This is a topical study group—we decide what to read each session. We gather to read and discuss the teachings. We take turns reading papers, but, of course, reading out loud is optional. The focus is not on how many pages we read, but on the message and meaning of the teachings and/or what they invoke in us.
The quiet historic village of Snow Hill is about 2.5 hours east of Washington and Baltimore. It is just 25 minutes southeast of Salisbury, Maryland. It is 15 minutes south of Berlin; about 25 minutes southwest of Assateague Island; and 35 minutes northwest of Chincoteague Island.
Snow Hill has good restaurants, a coffee shop, a bakery, an ice cream & candy shop with homemade ice cream from a nearby dairy farm, a pizza place, a food market & deli, gas stations, and some galleries and shops. In beautiful Berlin, just 15 minutes up the road, there is a wonderful bakery/cafe, another good café, many good restaurants, another very popular home-made ice cream shop, and tons of great antiquing. If you wish to stay over in Snow Hill, we may be able to arrange accommodations with a Urantia Book Reader discount.
