Box 1691 Palatka, Florida 32178 Phones : (386)-328-1088 (386)-328-1829 The Homeless Shelter is committed to providing shelter, food and clothing for the homeless of Putnam County. We strive to link with other programs within the geographical area in order to correlate priorities with an overall planning process. We are governed by a board of directors who oversees the program, as well as assist with the various program activities. We meet regularly to discuss the needs and progress of the organization. The number of homeless guests average from 400-600 annually. The average bed stay 3-7 days per week. We assist over 150 clients annually with housing and job referrals. Qualifictions for entering the shelter-- You must have a picture ID, and submit to a police background check. Feeding the Hungry through the efforts of FEMA, United Way, The CIty of Palatka, Various churches, individuals, Civic and Social organizations we are able to feed one meal daily to those living in the shelter or just passing through. We served about 15ooo meals in the year 2003. The Clothes Closet is available to offer clothing and household items to those in need. Volunteers are available to assist with the closet. The clothing and household items have been donated by local merchants, churches and individuals. Over 300 individuals were assisted in the year 2003. Our Needs : Paper Products Cleaning Products Linens Large pots & pans Plasticware-utensils 60-watt light bulbs File Folders Copy paper-legal & letter We operate on donations, and programs from the city and county. Any donations are greatly appreciated.
