OUR VISION

The vision of this Ministry is both spiritual and practical. Spiritually, it has a focus on both the rural and urban people worldwide, with the message of the gospel that brings hope, salvation, reconciliation and peace to the broken hearted. In the practical diamension, our vision is firstly, to provide relief services to refugees and displaced persons, war victims, disabled persons, poor and the needy in general; and secondly provide quality and relevant education to the under-privileged and war victims. Finally planting of Churches, establishing of Bible Schools and other educational institutions. Compassion Chapel of Faith Ministries is a ministry of reconciliation and love. We believe that the Scriptural mandate given to the church to preach the gospel includes the practical outworking of that in loving concern for our fellow man. How can we tell people of the love of Christ without showing them something of that love? Although CCFM is a benevolent ministry to the poor and needy, particularly to War victims and Truamatised persons, we are seeking at the same time to bring the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ to such people, which is the main practical responsibility of the church. EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE Many street children in fact do have homes among the poor shanty areas of the Metropolies. Often they do not go to school because they have to help supplement the family income by begging, breaking of stones or working in the streets selling local brewed soft drinks and food. CCFM is seeking to help over 75 families by providing at least one child in the home an opportunity to go to school. We provide a school uniform, shoes, a bag, note books and monthly allowance. One of the social workers visits the home regularly and co-operates with the school, monitoring the progress of the child. Opportunities are given for Christian witness as literature is given to the family. The child is invited to attend the Sunday School and the parents a Bible Study in their area as well as the church. However we do not make this compulsory but pray and invite those helped to attend. At least once a year parents are encouraged to attend lectures on the family, on such topics as parental responsibilities and the proper discipline of children. LIVELIHOOD PROJECTS To help families increase their income a number of livelihood projects have been started. Families are able to obtain small interest free loans of about 90,000FG (£30) (US$45). Many use the money to prepare food for sale - for example fried bananas, fried fish, boild eggs, smoked fish and fresh fruits. Recently courses have been run on the preparation of confectionaries, saop making and gara dress making (tie and dyeing. Currently 20 families are being helped with livelihood projects.

STATEMENT OF FAITH AND WHAT WE BELIEVE

A brief summary of what we believe follows:

We believe:

The Holy Scriptures of the Old and the New Testaments as originally given are the inspired and infallible and inerrant Word of God, and are the sole, supreme, and all-sufficient authority in every matter of Christian faith and practice. One living and true God, Sovereign in creation, providence and redemption, subsisting in three persons - the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit - the same in substance, and equal in power and glory. The eternal Sonship and essential, absolute, and eternal Deity, and true and sinless humanity of the Lord Jesus Christ; His virgin birth, death, and burial; His physical resurrection and ascension into heaven; His present intercession for His people, and His coming again in power and glory. The personality and Deity of the Holy Spirit, through Whom the sinner is born again to saving repentance, and faith, and by Whom the regenerated are sanctified through the truth. The fall of mankind in Adam, by which they have totally lost their original righteousness and holiness, and have come under the righteous condemnation of God The personal and unconditional election in Christ of a multitude which no man can number unto everlasting salvation, out of God's pure grace and love, without any foresight of faith or good works in them. The personal and eternal redemption from all sin and the penal consequence thereof, of all God's elect, by the substitutionary sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ. The effectual calling of all the elect by the irresistible grace of God. The justification of sinners by faith alone, through the atoning death and resurrection and imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church which is composed of God's elect in every age. According to His commandment, Christians are to gather in local churches. To each of these churches He has given authority for administering order, discipline, and worship. The officers of the churches are elders and deacons. The Lord Jesus Christ has instituted these symbolic ordinances to be observed by His church; that of baptism and the Lord's Supper(communion). The final perseverance in the state of grace of all those who have been elected by the Father, redeemed by the Son, and regenerated by the Holy Spirit, so that they shall never perish, but have eternal life. The resurrection of the body; the judgment of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ, with the eternal blessedness of the righteous and the eternal punishment of the ungodly.
