Our History

Friendship Missionary Baptist Church was founded in 1911.The  Deacons of the Church purchased the land for $100. A log cabin church was built at the current site and was initially used as a school for black students. Shortly thereafter the church shown on the left was constructed around the original "Little Log Church" and some of the logs remained with the church until the tornado in 2013. The community came together to rebuild the church and the new church was completed in 2015.

Friendship is located at the fork of Poplar Springs Rd and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.  In 2013 A tornado tore through the small town destroying many homes and businesses and damaging many others.  Among those buildings damaged by the storm was Friendship Baptist Church. Thanks to the generous outpouring of grace from local churches and other agencies, the church was rebuilt and stands as a shining example of what God can do.

After many months of seeking new leadership, a new pastor was installed on April 10, 2016.  Pastor Brian K. Stevenson former member of Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Cartersville, GA invites all to attend and become a member of our church family.

Our Pastor

Paul told the Thessalonians, “Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, and are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other” (1 Thessalonians 5:12-13).

Rev. Brian K. Stevenson was ordained as a minister on April 10, 2016 after an extensive search was conducted to fill the vacancy left by the previous pastor who relocated to another church in Northwest Georgia.  Pastor Stevenson loves our congregation with a Christ-like love and loves to deliver the word of God. He is readily available to conduct weddings, counsel members and participate in revivals of sister churches.  He comes from the professional arena of law enforcement and provides counseling and direction to youth on a daily basis.
