The Dexter Baptist Church has a long history in Dexter, Kansas. It was formed in the 1800's in a home in rural Dexter and later moved to town in 2010 to meetin in a storefront until the church building was built. It was completed in 1910. The church reorganized in the 1990's as an Independent Baptist Church after requesting release from the American Baptist Association. Since that time, Rev. Stanley Upchurch and Rev. Jim Playford served the church and the community. The current Pastor is HL Camppion in lieu of his call (pending) and his wife Cleta on the piano. They previousoly served in this community at Hicks Chapel Church in rural Dexter. HL has served as a Circuit-Riding pastor and has completed several overseas missionary tours. He has also helped restart several churches.
