

The Late Reverend Dr. Eldridge Gittens along with his wife, Ruth Gittens organized Rush Temple A.M.E. Zion Church in March of 1955 in the family living room. It has grown to one of the most noted churches in New York City. Reverend Gittens earned the respect of Zionites as well as others all over the world. He pastored this church for over 47 years and was the Spiritual Father to more than 47 other men and women in the gospel. These person are now preaching and pastoring churches throughout the world. He has married, baptized, and counseled an unknown number person. Many person came to Christ under the leadership of this great man of God. He departed from this life on April 1, 2002 with wife and helpmate Louise at his side.
