Bagshot is a village of Saxon origin, now with a population of about 5000.
Historically it had a major trade in coaching inns and market gardening.
Bagshot Park has been used as a royal hunting lodge since the 16th century,
and was rebuilt by Queen Victoria as a home for her third son, Prince Arthur,
Duke of Connaught and is now the home of Prince Edward, our present Queen's
youngest son.
<P ALIGN=Justify>
The Duke of Connaught was largely responsible for building St Anne's Church,
a fine example of the Victorian neo-gothic style, and which continues to
serve the community with 'middle of the road' Anglican worship in a balanced
mixture of services that suit all tastes at some time during the month.
