Set Free Ministries is committed to the redemption of the Spiritually dead.
We are committed to those who are rejected, dejected, injected, fleeing, grieving seething or leaving.
We are committed to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, take in the stranger, visit the sick and the prisoner! Are you thirsty? We'll give you a drink!
We are committed to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, teach the Gospel, live the Gospel, eat, drink and sleep the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We are committed to one another as children of the Father, brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ and temple's of the Holy Spirit.
We are "Hard Core" for Jesus! We will not compromise our walk or talk, our faith and trust, we can do all things through Christ who gives us the strength.
We are committed to pray, stay, not to stray! Love you, help you and we won't enable you.
We will stand with you, hand and hand with you, carry you but train you to walk your walk!
How often have you said to yourself, "I wish my mother was here or I wish my father was here or I wish so and so were here! It would be so much easier, there would be so much less fear if they were here now. I feel so lost, alone, frightened, insecure, confused depressed. Well, the bible says;
Heb 13:6 = That is why we can say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper, so I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?"
Heb 13:8 = Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Joh 14:16 = And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, who will never leave you.
Joh 14:17 = He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world at large cannot receive him, because it isn't looking for him and doesn't recognize him. But you do, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.
Joh 14:18 No, I will not abandon you as orphans-I will come to you.
These are words spoken by Jesus Himself! These words are for all of us.
Set Free people are the craziest! Crazy about Jesus, about serving, about giving, about the Kingdom, about the "Word", about today and about you!
We are all Set Free people who have been set free in Jesus Christ! Have you been "SET FREE" yet? If not, please take this moment in time to pray this prayer!
"Lord God Almighty, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Eternal and loving God, HELP!!!!, I need Jesus! Now, right now!, I'm ready to give up my will and exchange it for your will! I do believe that Jesus Christ died for me, put my sin to death on the cross, He has risen from the dead and is seated at the right hand of the Father, praying constantly for ME! Teach me your ways! I can't trust anyone or anything but I must trust YOU! Thank you for this opportunity today! In Jesus' precious name I pray. Amen!
Congratulations! There is no magic pill but you did call upon HE (Jesus) who is able to deliver IF you are ready to get serious. Commitment, that's the word!

The Real Set Free Story
Set Free Ministries was founded by Pastor Phil Aguilar in Anaheim, California in the early 1980's. Pastor Phil accepted a new life in Christ while in Chino Prison. His life of gang crime, drugs, alcohol, outlaw bikers, and rebellion against all authority came to a screeching halt! Pastor Phil was called by God to ministry although he wasn't sure in what capacity. He entered the Baptist Seminary where he studied hard to accomplish the first meaningful thing in his life. Pastor Phil was licensed by the Baptist Church where he still holds his credentials to this day. He was assigned to a Baptist Church in Anaheim where he served (in a shirt and tie) as an assistant pastor. He loved the work of the ministry but felt the tugging of his heart strings for the people of the streets. The same people that he did his drugs and crime with. The same rebellious people that he had once been. He knew that he had to don his jeans, leather jacket, boots and Harley Davidson motorcycle. He knew that these would replace his nice white shirt and tie and give him an entree into the darkness of the criminal world once again. But this time he would be serving a different master. He needed to bring the message to the lost and dying that Jesus Christ will set you free. Hence, SET FREE ministries was established.
Pastor Phil went to the streets and rapidly began to see a response to his style of evangelism. The church grew in leaps and bounds. Gang bangers, drug dealers, prostitutes, alcoholics, thieves, cheaters, liars, and every description of radical, rebellious individual began to fill the seats of the church. The need for discipleship became evident so homes were established where these people in transition could escape the web of the streets and focus anew on Jesus Christ. At one point there were over 300 people living in ministry homes. God provided, food, shelter, clothing, and overseer's for these people. God provided training both spiritual and vocational as well! The same people who once worked hard at tearing down their community were miraculously transformed and now are actively involved in many community oriented projects through the direction of Set Free Ministries.
Isaiah 58:12 Your children will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities. Then you will be known as the people who rebuild their walls and cities.
Phil Aguilar had it made in the eyes of many. Within ten years the ministry had 6,000 people attending services. This began to get complicated since a warehouse on Anaheim Boulevard was filled to overflowing every Sunday and Thursday night. The city fathers at this point didn't know how to handle this influx into there city. After all, there were dozens of motorcycles rolling into town with long haired, bearded bikers! There were known ex-felons, prostitutes, drug dealers, gang bangers and every description of person attending these services. Oh yes, don't let me give you the wrong impression, there were surfers, skate boarders, "the beeper crowd", business people, mothers and fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers, children galore! What a scene! And that's exactly what the city government thought. So, down came the pressure. Summons' were issued for overcrowding, warnings were given for parking violations, fire inspectors, building inspectors, calls from unidentified dissidents. The volatility among those that didn't care escalated. Pastor Phil, his wife, family and leaders began to get threats. False accusations were lodged Phil. Pressure, pressure and more pressure. Some people became disillusioned. They began to point fingers at Pastor Phil. "After all", they would say, "if this ministry was of God why are all these things happening. It must be the judgment of God! God is finally doing something about this false prophet, this cult leader. Yea! Crucify him, crucify him!
Yes! From within the cancer grew until it metastasized to other well known ministries. Secret agents began to adopt the self appointed positions of watchmen for God, or should I say god or even................!
Well, The Almighty had to intervene somehow, didn't He! He did indeed. That Easter Sunday or should I have said Resurrection Sunday for the more legalistic, Pastor Phil Aguilar announced to over 7,000 people who gathered in LaPalma Park that He was leaving Anaheim. An "E.F. Hutton" hush came over the crowd, shouts of NO! NO! could be heard resounding throughout the crowd. Tears began to flow and even a sense of panic overtook some. Phil had come to his end! So he thought. Do you remember when persecution came to the believers at Jerusalem what happened? They were forced to leave that city and go out the the surrounding towns and cities. The Church began to finally grow!
Persecution became the friend of Set Free Ministries, once a one town ministry. Pastor Phil encouraged his leaders to go.........go into their own communities and start Set Free churches. He had trained many men and women well. They were about to be challenged to put their training to work for the Kingdom of God! They did, my wife and I did and today there are over forty five Set Free Churches across America and in several foreign countries.
Did the persecution stop? No! In fact it is still alive and well. Do you know what? It's a good thing of sorts. It let's you know that you are really having an impact on the kingdom of darkness. Set Free Ministries have become targets for the prince of the power of the air in their respective cities and towns. James, a brother of Jesus wrote:
Jam 1:2-4 NLT
2 Dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy.
3 For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.
4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything.
Pastor Phil is alive and well, winning hosts of lost souls to Christ, and has returned to Orange County, California (Anaheim).
