Our choirs have been a blessing from Sunday to Sunday and all those in charge of the Services have been in their places and ready to lead in the worship of our God. We have just ended our Conference Year and attended the Western New York Annual Conference of the A.M.E. Zion Church. All Pastors were re-assigned to our Buffalo Area A.M.E. Zion Churches. We are not moving too fast here at Durham Memorial, as we begin a NEW Conference Year. Our summer worship hours are 11:00 AM until 12:15 PM. We do not "quench" the spirit, but just do not follow our regular Order of Worship. On July 13th we will have a "mini-picnic" following the worship service. Members are invited to bring covered dishes to share with all. You are welcome to visit us at any time. Have a great week and BE BLESSED! <hr><h3>PASTOR RICHARD G.STEWART</table><br><hr> The Bishop of our area re-appointed Pastor Stewart for his 18th year as Pastor of this church. This is a record in the 85 year history of worship at this location. THANK YOU PASTOR, for your leadership! Pastor will be leaving shortly for the General Conference of the A.M.E. Zion Church, which will be meeting in Atlanta, Ga. July 15-23rd. our prayers are with him as he travels. He serves as one of the Alternate Delegates. It is at this meeting that laws for our denomitation are made or changed. three new Bishops will be elected by the delegates. Pastor also has plans for us to travel to Charlotte, NC and Newberry, SC in August of this year. <hr><h3>WED. MID WEEK </table><br><hr><hr> SUNDAY SCHOOL STAFF TRAINING meets Wed at 5:30PM to prepare for the next Sunday School Lesson, under the leadership of Sis. Mary Jean Taylor; Bible Study follows at 6:30 PM; The HOUR OF PRAYER will meet at 7:30 PM with Sis. Diann Holt as leader. <hr><h3></table><br><hr><h3> MUSIC SCHOOL</table><br><hr><h3> The Music School continues giving music lesson to anyone (child, youth or adult) interested in learning to play an instrument. The School meets after school and on Saturday under the direction of James "Pappy" Martin. Instruction is offered in Piano, Organ, Drum, wind instruments, and Guitar. The summer Recital went well. All of the students diid an excellent job. The Drum & Bugle Core narched in the Junteen Parade and also did a great job. Thanks Mr martin! </hr><h3>Soup Kitchen</table><br><hr><h3>We continue serving a meal Monday thru Friday to any hungry person. This ministry has been in operation since Nov. 19, 1990. We will observe our 18th Anniversary on Nov. 19, 2008. Plan now to offer some assistance with the Dinner Meal. Thanksgiving and Christmas Day meals again will be served on the holiday. Your assistance is needed with food, gifts, personal care items, and winter clothing (gloves, scarves, boots, coats0 thank you for what you will do. gifts.</hr><h3></hr><h3 /table><br><hr ><h3> <br><hr><h3>OUTREACH CENTER PROJECT</h3> A Special Reception was held on Mar. 13th at 5:30PM at which time The LINKS presented financial contributions to a number of local organizations. We are one to receive funds for our Outreach Program and Soup Kitchen.At present we are seeking to secure seating for 300 for the Banquet Room. Interest is picking up, on using our building. We have a number of community teams using the gym for basketball and others using it for Dinners, Receptions, Bridal & Baby Showers and meetings. As a way of continuing to reach out to those in need, showers are available during Soup Kitchen hours (11:00 am to 1:00 pm). We also have a new Outreach Counselor, Bro. Frank Williams, who seeks to provide a varity of services to those homeless or in need. If you are a Human Service Agency and have a service to share, please call him @ 716-856-4943. There is still space available for daycare and our after school program. Head Start is full and has a waiting list. Stop by anytime. Although we are using the new building, we still have one unfinished floor. We are looking for Grants/Funding to complete the top floor in this building, which will include Office Space as well as Meeting Rooms. Our goal is to provide Senior Day Care, as well as additional After School Tutoring programs. We are short $175,000.00 and need your assistance.
