Sunday School
For children aged 3 years to 12 years
We welcome all children.
Sunday School classes start at 10:00 AM with the Pastor's Children's Message infront of the entire congregation, after which the children go upstairs for their classes. Classes run for the full worship hour. The first Sunday of every month, there is no Sunday School, which gives the children a real sense of worship with their parents.
Our Sunday School curriculum gives the children a good basic introduction to the Bible lessons. We have a team of caring and dedicated teachers who provide these classes. We have craft days and days to learn songs to sing. The congregation plans activities in which the family may participate. Check the calendar of events for these times.
When the children reach grade seven they attend confirmation class, where they study Luther's catechism in preparation for their confirming their baptism. At the beginning of their teen years the classes provide provocative discussion for life in our work-a-day world. This is a two year program. In addition to regular classes the Pastor plans field trips, retreats, and these are offered to the confirmands to give a variety of Christian experiences before their Confirmation Day!
Mount Calvary members respond to the needs of the community, local and at large. Members contribute regularly to Lutheran World Relief, to the Food Bank, and to the Salvation Army. Our members respond with their time, talents, and finances to ecumenical ministry in Canada's north, and to human needs in Calgary and other areas of the world.
